Has Your Life Been Up in the Air?

In a lot of ways this is a general life in progress kind of statement. No one really knows what tomorrow will bring. So the next minute is "up in the air" as to what will happen. Each action has to force a reaction. The trick is to not have the reaction be negative. The more positives fall from the air, the more settled you feel giving the illusion of control and plans going the way we want.

When things are moving along on the path you want to be, it doesn't seem up in the air at all. Then, one day it hits you...

In July of 2005, we felt like life was going where we needed it to be. Was it perfect? By all means no! Perfection in real life is truly unattainable. Just don't tell a perfectionist, it is incomprehensible to them.

We celebrated our fifteenth wedding anniversary. You know this has to be big, there is a Hallmark card just for this event. Other than me being mentally drained and desperately needing a few days away from home. No "Mom, this." or "Mom, that." Just peace and quiet. Alone with my man. No phone chirping a text or email. We needed to get down to some relationship building. We had reached a point where we just needed us. Then the bottom fell out from under us and we got sucked into the abyss.

Once school started in August, we were going to get away. We had not done this, well ever. That's when our lives got thrown up into the air and the pieces are still landing. Yeah, seven years later we are not grounded again, not yet.

Things are coming together. The damage that has come about as a result, I'm not sure if life will ever be the same. I know my opinions have changed drastically about people and family in general since this happened. The old saying, "When things get rough, you find out who your friends are." is so true. My little family unit is all that is left intact. No parents, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, cousins, etc have been there. If anything, they found reason to make fun of the situation. I'm glad that my marriage and children have remained intact. That is the most important anyway.

I know that life will get moving in the right direction again. It is now, slowly climbing out of the hole that sucked us in.

My Personal List of 20 Ideas To Make This Year My BEST Year

I did the same thoughtful recollections of 2010, that I have done many times before. I have had some real "doosies" as far as ups and downs in the past 5 years. All have been doable, none do I want to repeat. I wanted to put more purpose into this year, being that things have calmed down quite a bit.
I have spent some time reflecting on my New Year's Post: Ok, Are You Tired Of Hearing It Yet?
QUOTE:
  • I am looking forward to the chance to make another year better than the last.
  • I'm not going to tell you all the fabulous things I will promise you and me to do.
  • I do have some ideas that I hope you will like.
  • I do plan to keep blogging and hope to enrich your day.
  • I do plan to work on my bible study blog. Share the Bible with MusingMom
  • I do plan to write more on my spiritual blog. Another Day In Paradise
  • I don't have a bunch of lofty goals.
  • I do plan to work on my organization and family motto.
  • I do plan to accept that my oldest may be getting married sooner than I thought.
  • I do plan to keep being the same caring, hopeful woman I have always been.

This is a very doable list and I want to expand on it. Get to some details. In my next post: Just One Word For Last Year, I chose, Improved, as I re-read as the main one. This year is going to be even more improved with more Peace, Joy and Grace. I have lot of Hope that I can make it that much more improved that last year.

So, let me expand my first list:
  1. I will not say that I "will" do something, if I won't do it.
  2. I will remember my goals
  3. I will keep adding content to my blogs. I may be doing something to incorporate
  4. I will continue to pursue networking resources. hint: I have a Guest Post next week.
  5. I will continue to schedule my day, a little at a time.
  6. I will make a video for this blog.
  7. I will share some of my organization tips and tricks on coupons.
  8. I will share the system I use for bills, checkbook, accounts, etc
  9. I will read more of my bible study.
  10. I am going through my email accounts and removing myself from some of the lists I am on. (I am finding more inspiration from blogs, what I have learned to date, and simple trial and error)
  11. I am going to continue to sift through my Google Reader and share things I like on Buzz.
  12. I am going to continue to be the same caring, hopeful woman I have always been.
  13. I will find more ways to bring Joy into my life.
  14. I will find more ways to bring Peace into my life.
  15. I will find more ways to encourage God's Grace to be shown in my life.
  16. I will write a post about my experience with a Life Coach.
  17. I am going to figure out self hosting my blog.
  18. I am going to figure out Word Press, if it kills me!
  19. I am going to continue to learn new things.
  20. I am going to continue to change the things about my life that I have control over.
I hope you will follow along on this journey of mine.

Just One Word For Last Year…

One word to describe last year would be "New" or maybe "Different". What about "Improved"?
Scrabble, Word GamesImage by windygig via Flickr

I decided in January that I wanted to do something for ME! Imagine that! Don't get me wrong, I have done many, many things for me. Like...

Making sure I got some quiet time.
Mom and Dad get to have a quiet cup of coffee after supper.
Being a SAHM, I needed to do this for me as much as them.

I made my resolutions for the year and posted them here. OK, Are You Tired Of Hearing It? I'm very proud of my comments and the wonderful people that took the time to read my post. The absolute BEST part of 2010 is that I jumped on the wagon! Yes, I got a domain name, I've been postponing it and I am now one of THEM! http://musingmom6.com has a very nice ring to it! Now if I can get everything updated?!?!

This year I hope to find more of the Peace, Joy and Grace that Jenny observed in my post. I have been struggling with how to put this post together and she gave me the inspiration I needed. I have stated before, I'm not the best at getting my thoughts down in print. But I can say with assurance, I am doing better. I know this is what I am supposed to be doing. My writing will get better, in time. My direction will be more clear, like anything else, in time. I'm also finding some interesting blog resources that may help me improve my chances of succeeding as a mompreneur.

This next year, I wish you all the BEST of whatever you are resolving to do. Make it do able, not out of reach. You will have a better chance of SUCCESS.

Now, I'm going to get back to planning my next Babystep. Will you join me?

I'm linking up with Mama Kat. I chose this prompt from Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop.
Choose a word that encompasses 2010 and describe why. What word will you choose as your theme for 2011?

Have You Ever Gotten One of “Those” Christmas Gifts?

Mama Kat

I guess I would have to describe my position in both my husband's and my families as the "Black Sheep". I have always been one to go against the grain, not wanting to be like anyone else and just be me. In saying that, you should know:

1. I did not have a teenage pregnancy.
2. I did not Have to get married.
3. I was 24 yr old when I walked down the aisle with my "Prince Charming".
4. We didn't use birth control to remain childless for 5yr to get a financial foundation set up.
5. I did not return to college.
6. I am a SAHM.
7. I am HAPPY to be a SAHM.
8. I have more than 3 children.
9. I have a deep and personal relationship with God.
10. I have only been married once.

July, 2005, my husband lost his job. Not for poor performance, downsizing. We were beginning to find financial footing, then it was all pulled right out from under us. This was the second time in 15yr of marriage we went through losing a job.

My mother-in-law is not a very nice person. That said, she is also a full blood German and thinks God granted her the authority to dictate everyone's life.

The last 3 years she has given me some very thoughtless gifts. I have never said a word to her, but the look on her face is pretty much, "I don't care!". These items were "re-gifts" and not even anything I could have tried to use. I'm 5"2', the sweatpants were "Tall", a dated Christmas bell (she would have gotten this from her bridge group exchange) and a small sample/hotel bottle of hand sanitizer. This woman is ruthless. She then gave my husband a check for $150, she had never done that before!

Needless to say, even my husband is at wits end with her. We skipped inviting them to Thanksgiving this year my blood pressure just couldn't handle it. We haven't made any real plans yet for Christmas and my blood pressure is still not under control. After 20 years of her aggravating ways, I'm ready to divorce her and keep my husband.

OK, I've wanted to find a writing prompt I could relate to and this may be it!

My question to you, Have You Ever Gotten One of "Those" Christmas Gifts?
Please leave a comment and tell me about your experience.

PS. I will expand on my "list" in a later post.

How To Create A Linky or Blog Hop Linky

the go to place for mom bloggers!

I haven't done but one other Writer's workshop at BloggyMoms, and I'm here to tell ya', they are fun to do.

This week is to write an instructional post to be added to the New How-To-Section on Bloggy Moms. I can share feeling of the new blogger trying to figure out how in the world do these bloggers do all these things. Scouring google trying to find out how to do all sorts of things.

How To Create A Linky or Blog Hop Linky

It is not very hard to do, but it can look overwhelming if you are just starting a blog. The Linky lists have been used for many things. I have used a linky for prayer request, prayer button and a blog hop linky's on my blog.

1. Go to Linky Tools and create an acct.

2.I believe it will put you at your dashboard, if not go there, these should be a link. This is what mine looks like.

3. Click on the menu with the green arrow "Create A New Linky". I chose the "Basic" because the thumbnails can make page loads long. If people are in a hurry they will give up. I'm guilty of that myself.

4. This is the next screen. Fill in the appropriate info.

5. Put the end date and time to 1:00am the following day. For an end date of Oct 23rd. Set the end date to stop the linky at 1am on the 24th. Then, click to continue to dashboard.

6. When you get here, you want to "Edit"

7. Next, you want to make it a Blog Hop.

Make sure all the info is correct. Check the box that says, "Is this a Blog Hop?" this will make the entry list sharable and will open a link on your post so people can add it to theirs is they choose.

8. Click on the update link on the bottom and it will bring you back to your dashboard.

9. If you have done it right it will look like "Blog Hop Realized Blessings" on mine.

10. Click on the the blue "Get Code" link. Copy and Paste to your post.

CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU'VE CREATED A LINKY!!

I hope this helps. If you would like to join in on the blog hop, it runs Friday and Saturday. There will be Guest Host Blogs and you can always find it on my blog, Just Another Day In Paradise

Fall is in the Air…are you ready?

A mother plays the guitar while her two daught...Image via Wikipedia

August is almost gone, September, October, then getting ready for the biggie Holiday gatherings.

Soon we will be getting the costumes ready for the Tricksters and making treats for the class parties. My days of days of class parties are coming to a close, the youngest 2 in elementary school, 3rd and 5th grades will soon move on to Middle School.

Last year we started a new tradition with Halloween. I have never been a fan. Spooky, Scary, Frightening, just are not my idea of a good time. I'm not a fan of candy corn or those little pumpkin candies either, I guess it is a personal preference. Wanting to take a more spiritual approach, we looked up the traditional history of Halloween or All Hallows Eve and found some really great stories. DD#3 has taken a liking to decorating cakes and we read one of the stories I found. They were all so impressed! I really was shocked at how quiet they all were while listening to me read the story. I am going to do a post about this new tradition in October. It will be fun to share what we found.

Thanksgiving has required some huge transitions, we no longer get together with DH's siblings and his parents think they can't stay here more than 3 hours. With the 4 girls getting older they are showing signs of being bakers, cooks and concocter's. The house will start wafting with the smells of pies, pumpkin & pecan, pumpkin, lemon & wheat breads, too many cookies to mention. The Christmas cookie list is growing longer and I have had to put limits on the number of treats.

I told them last September, that I wanted them to start making the memories they wanted to share with their families. They really got into when they could help pick out what traditions they wanted to keep or new ones to add. I started a binder and we will add to it as we go, change when needed and increase as our family grows. DH and I have always been big with family gatherings. Unfortunately our families haven't been as interested. I want our kids to have the wonderful memories and to share important days with each others families as they each begin their own. It will make me a very happy mother angel in Heaven to know I planted the seed of family for them.

I hope they remember not only the smells of the season but the sights and sounds too. For me I want to make the memories for them that I didn't have and that I couldn't give them. They want family, DH and I have tried to get our respective families to share, be happy, and function. So, since that hasn't worked, we will move on away from the dys-function to something more fun-ctional to us!

I'm Play along! The original post is here...
