Wordless Wednesday

"Gardening is about enjoying the smell of things growing in the soil, getting dirty without feeling guilty, and generally taking the time to soak up a little peace and serenity."

Lindley Karstens

With fall clearly in the air, I am going to miss the flowers. I get a hanging basket for Mother's Day that is usually the Wave Petunia's. I so enjoy dead heading and smelling the aroma.

We have a steady influx of Hummingbirds, flittering around between the petunia's and the butterfly bush.

I am so going to miss this.

It is so relaxing to sit in the early morning and early evening and smelling the sweet scent as the gentle breeze brings it to me as I sit on the porch. So heavenly!

The heat has all but burnt my geranium and petunia's this year, we still get the aromatic benefits, just not as strong.

I do hope winter doesn't last to long or maybe it can fly by quickly, so I can again sit and be surrounded by the gentle chemist of God's loving aromatherapy.

Wednesday Wishes

DH and I have done a lot of landscaping work since we moved in Dec 2003. It has been a challenge trying to block weeds and we have this weird grass that vines. Not sure how else to describe. When he lost his job in July 2005 he stopped living, every ounce of energy was spent on finding another job. He went to some extremes with this and alienated me and the kids, he went through this thought process that he didn't want to lose us, but he was not going to lose this one.

Most of this is all very logical when you look at the full picture, job#1 He was downsized, job#2 He was hired then let go 3 months later, the work they hired him for never materialized, job #3 Was an insult to his abilities as a pilot, way to long of a story. Job #4 is where he has been for 4years this October. It is a good job, he over compensated because his self esteem was so low.

Anyway, back to my Wishful Wednesday, I have been hoping, mourning, dreaming of the day we would get back to living. We went for walks 1 or 2 times a week, we planted flowers and bushes and pick out hanging baskets for the porch. Well, last month we dug up the rose bushes that died and planted 5 new flowering bushes. They are still not very big but they will be in a year or two.

I'm wishing, we continue to plant, do home improvement projects, etc, again, it was our way of connecting as a couple.

My camera is not working, used these wonderful
photos of plants similar to what we planted.
