TEN COMMANDMENTS OF A WIFE & MOTHER

“When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good and not evil, all the days of her life.” - Proverbs 31:10-12

My Dream Date with my Husband

We didn't go on a honeymoon when we got married. We never dreamed things would happen this way. Finances were tight because I had to take a medical leave from work due to carpal tunnel syndrome. Our first anniversary was spent getting settled in a new town and new jobs. Our second was spent recuperating from child-birth and a baby with apnea of prematurity. The list goes on. We've made our time where we could, but we've never really had a getaway.

OK, Are You Tired Of Hearing It?

I've been trying to decide all day, do I post or not. Well this will be a very different tone than you may have heard.

I am looking forward to the chance to make another year better than the last.
I'm not going to tell you all the fabulous things I will promise you and me to do.
I do have some ideas that I hope you will like.
I do plan to keep blogging and hope to enrich your day.
I do plan to work on my bible study blog. Share the Bible with MusingMom
I do plan to write more on my spiritual blog. Just Another Day In Paradise
I don't have a bunch of lofty goals.
I do plan to work on my organization and family motto.
I do plan to accept that my oldest may be getting married sooner than I thought.
I do plan to keep being the same caring, hopeful woman I have always been.

I hope you join me in my new year of life. What about you? Any thoughts on what you are going to be doing this new year?

Wednesday Wishes

DH and I have done a lot of landscaping work since we moved in Dec 2003. It has been a challenge trying to block weeds and we have this weird grass that vines. Not sure how else to describe. When he lost his job in July 2005 he stopped living, every ounce of energy was spent on finding another job. He went to some extremes with this and alienated me and the kids, he went through this thought process that he didn't want to lose us, but he was not going to lose this one.

Most of this is all very logical when you look at the full picture, job#1 He was downsized, job#2 He was hired then let go 3 months later, the work they hired him for never materialized, job #3 Was an insult to his abilities as a pilot, way to long of a story. Job #4 is where he has been for 4years this October. It is a good job, he over compensated because his self esteem was so low.

Anyway, back to my Wishful Wednesday, I have been hoping, mourning, dreaming of the day we would get back to living. We went for walks 1 or 2 times a week, we planted flowers and bushes and pick out hanging baskets for the porch. Well, last month we dug up the rose bushes that died and planted 5 new flowering bushes. They are still not very big but they will be in a year or two.

I'm wishing, we continue to plant, do home improvement projects, etc, again, it was our way of connecting as a couple.

My camera is not working, used these wonderful
photos of plants similar to what we planted.

My Take On The Mommy Wars

"It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it's good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven't lost the things that money can't buy."   ~ George Lorimer

One has to wonder, with the on going debate, SAHM vs Working Mom what is the motivation to debate? What are we really debating?

Being a SAHM  my work is viewed everyday. Yes, those of you that look for your approval, acceptance, in your work are not traveling in my work place. Nor am I in yours. I have a plan not unlike your business plans, project teams, boards, etc. Mine is my home, my family and my business is growing, productive, worthwhile, genuine people.

My commodity...is more precious than any single item on the market that money can buy.

Personally, I have no idea how you do it. You get up, get youself and your children out the door, on to the sitter, school, whatever your situation. Then off to your work. You all have a variety of what it means to "Get your day/work started. You put in a full day, that could be an office, a factory, retail business these are just off the top jobs that I can think of. Then your day starts going in reverse. Mine at this time is similar.

Each individual family will have "their routine". Are you an activity burdened family? By that I mean, some families from both walks of life have their kids in sports, music, 4-H, etc. This is something I found to be very difficult with my situation. My husband is often not home on any given night, no chance to say you go here, I'll go there. At this point, in my home, I run into the difficulties of the single parent.

I get my laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning, mommy time, etc done while my children are at school. I'm not competing for me time while the kids are competing for mommy time.

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. -Chinese Proverb

Loving how you are, wherever you are, is mostly about accepting yourself, not what others think of you. The only opinion of my life that matters is the one God has left for me with St Peter at the gates of heaven.

Do You Like Motivational Quotes? Speakers? Things To Read?

I have to admit, I am a junkie of sorts for quotes and motivational words of wisdom.

Mark Twain Gives Nine Tips for Living an Extraordinary Life  by Henrik Edberg

This article came by way of a person on twitter that enjoys the candid words of Mark Twain. Mr. Twain was very adept at off-the-cuff statements and matter-of-fact wisdom. I personally enjoy reading the tweets.

I just need to figure out how to save a collection of various quotes by numerous authors. I went through a very difficult time 3 years ago. I had lost a huge portion of my life. Reading, praying, searching for the underlying purpose of my life is what kept me together. I have always known that my purpose is not one of those, "You Will Be Famous One Day" lives. Being a wife and mother has been a truly gratifying career. But if your faith in a higher power is similar to mine, you know life has a purpose, your existence has meaning, the question is What Am I Doing Here. Well, I figured out some of it, the interactions with each other are the purpose. What you say/do has relavence to that situation. I hope you find was to live an Extraordinary Life in what you read, see and say today! Enjoy!

Well, I have been busy setting up my new iPhone.

I LOVE IT!! I have been following Flylady.net, it is an order, cleaning, personal improvement website. I found an app that some wonderful person created that uses the Zone principle with Daily, Weekly sections and the ability to add some things of your own. It is called Home Routines.

I have an app that is the Be Good! chart for my kids. They are getting into the habits I have been trying for a long time to get them to do.

Being the mom of 6 can be hectic, if not just utterly Chaotic. My husband calls it "Organized Chaos".

The igoogle app and Evernote are absolutely great apps, as well. If you are thinking about getting one of these phones, the organizational possibilites are endless.

All these apps are available from iTunes App Store, give a gift card as a gift.
